Lollapalooza is an annual music festival featuring popular alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock and hip hop bands, dance andcomedy performances, and craft booths. It has also provided a platform for non-profit and political groups.
Conceived and created in 1991 by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band, Lollapalooza ran annually until 1997, and was revived in 2003.
Many important bands have played at this festival, such as Muse, Beastie Boys, Coldplay, Depeche Mode, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cure, among many other great artists.
In 1994 Nirvana was supposed to headline Lollapalooza, but pulled out of the festival April 17th. The next day Kurt Cobain was found dead.
Too bad that Nirvana fans didn’t get to see their Idol one last time.
