Walter Mondale is the only person to have lost an election in all 50 states!

Walter Mondale is an American politician who served as Vice President under Jimmy Carter from 1977-1981. However, he's perhaps best known for the drubbing he got in the 1984 Presidential election against Ronald Reagan.
After Carter suffered defeat in the 1980 presidential election, Mondale became the party's nominee against Reagan's 1984 campaign. The result was the most lopsided presidential election in US history.
Reagan won 49 out of the 50 states. The only state that Mondale carried was Minnesota, his home state.
Years later, Mondale would run for a seat in the US Senate representing Minnesota. His Republican opponent beat him out by less than 50,000 votes. This turned Walter Mondale into the only person to lose an election in all 50 states!
