A UN document adopted by 178 governments instructs them on how to reorient all human societies!

In 1992, the United Nations met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The focus of the conference was on the environment and development. The result of the conference was a 310 page document on sustainable development.
The preamble notes that "humanity stands at a defining moment in history." It notes that poverty is continually increasing and we are destroying the ecosystems in which we live.
As a solution, it suggests paying more attention to environmental and developmental issues. Finally, it says that no nation can achieve their goals alone and that the world must work together for sustainability.
The document includes instructions on protecting the atmosphere, combating deforestation, environmentally sound management of radioactive waste, strengthening the role of workers and their trade unions, changing consumption patterns and promoting education among many other topics.
