Craftsmen from the small Micronesian archipelago of Kiribati made coconut armor!

Coconut may sound like a relatively friendly fruit, but it can be used to fight and defend. The aforementioned craftsmen would make coconut armor out of woven coconut fiber matting. It would have the depth and resilience of “a really thick carpet.”
The armor consisted of a cap, torso plate, back plate, leggings and jerkin. A high collar in the back protected warriors from stones thrown from their own side.
The first coconut armor was discovered the early 20th century. Since 1941, it has been in the procession of the Pitt Rivers Museum.
